Fractals are shapes or geometric figures with a couple of very interesting characteristics.

1. Self-similarity: Fractals are generally made up of parts, each of which is either an exact, or close replica of the whole. And of course, that part is made up of the same parts, and so on.
2. Infinitely complex: Since you can always break down any part of a fractal into smaller, self-similar pieces, they are often considered infinitely complex.
